Shine On Summer Camp is a day camp focused on giving kids in our community a fun, safe, and exciting summer camp experience!

Shine On Summer Camp is a summer day camp for kids entering Grade 1 through 6 (in September 2025) hosted by Bromley Road Baptist Church. Days at camp include a mix of games, songs, crafts, water play, swimming, and exciting special visitors. Activities, crafts, games and visitors will be focused around our weekly themes.

Each day of camp begins and ends at Bromley Road Baptist Church, located at 1900 Lauder Drive. the camp runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm each day (with drop-off beginning at 8:30am). Kids will walk to a local pool and local parks as part of the camp week.

Lunch and snacks are not provided and must be packed for you by your child. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions below for advice on what to pack for your child’s week at camp.

2025 Camp Dates and Themes

Shine On Summer Camp will operate for 6 weeks in the summer of 2025. These weeks and their themes include:

  • July 7 to 11, 2025: Wizards and Magic

  • July 14 to 18, 2025: Game On! (Sports)

  • July 21 to 25, 2025: Mission Impossible

  • July 28 to August 1, 2025: Budding Artists

  • August 11 to 15, 2025: Mad Scientist

  • August 18 to 22, 2025: Animal Kingdom

2025 Camp Rates and Discounts

The cost for each week of camp is $120 per child.

Scholarships are available to help reduce the cost of camp for those with a demonstrated need. If this is your case, please indicate it during the registration process, and we will be in touch with you by email.

Frequently Asked Questions

There may be many questions you have about our camp.  We will do our best to answer them here, but if you have further inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

  • Shine On begins and finishes each day at Bromley Road Baptist Church located at 1900 Lauder Drive, Ottawa, ON K2A 1B1. Our main entrance is accessible from the parking lot door, accessed from Lauder Drive.

  • The camp day is from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Drop-off can be as early as 8:30am with the program beginning at 9:00am.

  • No. Each week of camp features a trip to a local pool for swimming. Kids will walk to the pool (approximately 900 metres).

    Each day without rain, campers are guaranteed to be outdoors for part of the day, which may also include walking within the neighbourhood to local parks.

  • Authorized pick up persons need to be specified during the registration process. If you want to make changes to those authorized persons closer to the camp, you can contact us. Only those authorized for pick-up will be allowed to pick up your child from the camp.

    Please remember to label EVERYTHING that your child brings to camp with them!

    • Two (2) snacks* and One (1) lunch*

    • Water Bottle

    • Indoor shoes (running shoes for the gym)

    • Outdoor footwear (only if wet weather)

    • Swimsuit

    • Towel

    • Shoes that can get wet

    • Sun Hat

    • Sunscreen (preferably cream and not spray; Please apply sunscreen to your child before sending them to camp; kids need to be able to apply their own sunscreen) |

    • 1 full change of clothes (weather appropriate)

    * PLEASE DO NOT PACK ANY NUTS OR NUT PRODUCTS OF ANY KIND (including granola bars with nuts).

  • Although Bromley Road Baptist Church is used as a rain-day location, campers should be prepared with the proper attire such as a sweater, a hat, rain jacket and sunscreen.

  • No. Trips are prepaid and staff cannot be responsible for lost cash or valuables.

  • No, any toys (including fidgets, Pokemon cards, Beyblades, stuffies, etc. - unless needed for comfort or accommodation and fits in backpack), electronics and other valuables should all be left at home.

  • Shine On Summer Camp staff and volunteers do not administer medication but can remind a child to take medication him/herself as directed by the parents. All medication must come in the original packaging, and if it is a prescription, the camper’s name must be found on the label. Parents will sign a form indicating the medication, timing and directions for the child to follow and the staff to oversee.

  • All swimming activities take place at a public pool with qualified lifeguards. There is a shallow end for children who do not wish/are unable to swim.

    If your child can swim, but needs a flotation device, please bring that with you to camp and be sure to mention it to the staff at drop-off so that we can make sure to keep your child safe.

    It’s always helpful to mention any limitations like this when you drop-off your child, so our staff and volunteers can keep a special eye on them near water!

  • To cancel a week, you just need to click the link in your confirmation email and follow the steps.

    Be sure you’re only cancelling for the weeks you wish to cancel (and not all of the weeks for which you’re registered).
