Shine 2019 is a fun and exciting day camp opportunity for your child. This year, we’re running two weeks of camp from July 15 to 19 and July 22 to 26 for kids who are currently in SK-Grade 6. Camp runs from 8:30am to 4:30pm each day, starting and ending at Bromley Road Baptist Church. We play games, design crafts, participate in music, learn, and enjoy special events. We’ll be going swimming at a local pool one day (weather dependent) and going on a field trip too!


This year’s camp will run for two weeks:

  • July 15 to 19, 2019 and

  • July 22 to 26, 2019

The camp runs daily from 8:30am to 4:30pm.


This year’s camp cost will be $25 per child. For families of three or more, the maximum price is $60. Money will be collected on the first day of camp and must be paid by cash or cheque (payable to Bromley Road Baptist Church).

Our goal is to provide a safe and loving environment for kids to have fun, build relationships, and learn together. We believe that God loves every child and we want to demonstrate that love to them. We understand that childcare can be expense, but we want to provide a space where it isn’t!

There may be many questions you have about our camp.  We will do our best to answer them here, but if you have further inquiries, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Where do I drop off my child each day?

Shine On begins and finishes each day at Bromley Road Baptist Church located at 1900 Lauder Drive, Ottawa, ON K2A 1B1. Our main entrance is located through the parking lot door which is kept locked throughout the day.

Does my child stay at Bromley Road Baptist Church all day?

At Shine On Summer Camp, professional busing services are used to make our out-trip. Each day without rain, campers are guaranteed to be outdoors, potentially including parks and pools in the area.

Can a neighbour or friend pick up my child from camp?

Yes. We have a form that a child’s parent/guardian must fill out indicating approved pick-ups. Every parent/guardian will complete this form on arrival at camp Monday morning.

Do I pack a lunch for my child?

Campers should bring their own lunches and snacks Monday through Friday.

Should my child dress for rain or shine?

Although Bromley Road Baptist Church is used as a rain-day location, campers should be prepared with the proper attire such as a sweater, a hat, rain jacket and sunscreen.

Should my child bring money on outings?

No. Trips are prepaid and staff cannot be responsible for lost cash or valuables.

Can my child bring personal items (toys, mp3 player, cell phone, etc.) to camp?

We do not recommend this as they can get lost, stolen or cause conflict between the campers. If a child brings electronics to camp they are to stay in their bag and not be used during the camp program.

If my child has medication, who administers it and what do I need to provide?

Shine Camp staff and volunteers do not administer medication but can remind a child to take medication him/herself as directed by the parents. All medication must come in the original packaging, and if it is a prescription, the camper’s name must be found on the label. Parents will sign a form indicating the medication, timing and directions for the child to follow and the staff to oversee.

What if my child cannot swim?

All swimming activities take place at a public pool with qualified lifeguards. There are shallow end and splash pad options for children who do not wish/are unable to swim. But it’s always helpful to mention that when you sign in your child, so our volunteers and staff can keep a special eye on them near water!
